Are you asking about the tip of the tap root, being broken off? I think it has a chance. Maybe sprinkle some cinnamon on it and bury it a little deeper than usual. Not based on science, just what I'd do. The reason, I'm thinking that the longer it is in darkness the longer the root will be when it gets some light. That could make up for the tip being broke off. Sounded reasonable in my do-si-do addled melon.

It will still grow even though the tip is snapped. But its going to take abit of time before it recovers and gets back to normal development speed. You need to make sure its in decent, airy soil, and make sure its not too wet so that there isnt no chance of rot or infection while it recovers. A bit of myco or similar sprinkled in the hole before planting will be helpfull.
