Is this too much light

I have a grow box that is 2ft wide by 2 ft deep by 5 ft tall. I have a 400W Cooltube light (MH & HPS). My question is this too much light for this small space. For ventilation I'm going to use a 19cfm computer fan i might run two one for intake and one for exhaust. What do you guys think?

For now I plan on growing auto strains til I get this growing stuff down.

Not really sure there is such a thing as too much light, though I would think that regulating heat in the situation you are describing would be a bit difficult. Certainly more than a couple of computer fans could counter.

I don't think its too much light as Mystik said not really sure can have too much. But heat is another issue altogether. Do you know what the temps are in the grow space? Getting a temp level without any extra fans would give you a good idea of how much cooling power you're going to need and you could then adjust accordingly.

Your Mh and HPS lights are going to give off ALOT of heat so you need adequate ventilation. Oh and by the way with 400w+ HPS or MH... It really depends on how many plants but if its from 1-4 let me just tell you that your going to get an inch and a half EVERY DAY. So you better be ready for some big growth spurts. :)

yeah let it run for a couple of hours, without plants in there if need be, and get a sample temp and work from there, your idea bracket is in generally the 70-75 neighborhood but 80 is tolerable.

Well I went to install my light to day in my grow box and it's a little to wide for my comfort. The cooltube fixture is 20" wide and my box is 22" that's not enough for air ventilation. I'm also a little scared that the wood from my box would heat up and maybe catch on fire. Could it catch on fire even if I put Mylar on the interior walls of the box. So any suggestions for a new grow setup. I was going to keep my grow box in a spare bedroom in my house that 11' by 13'. Would I be able to just use the whole room or a portion of it? Someone Help me

When you say hps and mh, you mean conversion setup? I dont personally like to confine HID lamps into small grow tents, boxes erc... I feel alot better with those in the middle of a room, also this grow box confines and limits you, I prefer a larger margin for error for my growth area. Whats 400w cooltube exactly, forgive me, as I havent used alot of variety with my lights, just MH and HPS, and regular flouros is what im experienced with.

Ok new grow room setup I went to home depot and bought a clothes rack for $20 that's what I am going to hang my light from. I am going to cover some ply wood or cardboard with flat paint or mylar and use them as walls and a floor. Gonna also buy an inline fan and some dryer tubing for ventilation. Since I couldnt go small I might as well go big, now i have room to grow up to 6 regular full sized plants.

lol damn dude home depot is the shit. can you imagine how many people you walk by that is probably growing plants with creative things? :O the imaginations...*smokes a blunt*...

well back on topic. I'd say by an oscillating fan for your grow room. also since you can grow 6 regular plants and im assuming you will grow 6 of them, you probably need at least 2 HIDs. or you maybe you can get by with just 1..but im guessing the pots have to be close together for maximum light.
