ok i have a 5000k cool white tube, don't know watts, and was wondering if i could just use that and window light in winter to grow 1 plant. i also have 2 daylight bulbs but don't really want to use them for veg. they are 640 lumens each. i'll use them if i really have to so just say the word and i will.

Simple answer - No.
 
can you grow 1 plant this way? yes you can.. sort of, but you'll need to consider....

window sunlight usually isnt direct, at all through the day. that floro is probobly a weak one, which can grow the plant yes, but it will not produce anything worth the grow... maybe a few grams of real fluffy shit..

in winter sunlight you will have to run the floro 18 hours per day or more, by the time you flower, your outside sunlight will be over 12 hours per day, so, with that, you will need to put your plant in a more controlled area for budding, so that it gets 12 hours of light, and 12 horus of day per day..

but could you do it, the answer is yes
 
i have the flowering cycle all set for when i do flower. i just want to know about veging. for flowering i have 42 watt cfl's so i don't really need advice on flowering. what, and how many, flouros do i need to grow a good plant?
 
uhm... use the fricken 42 watt cfls you have... flowering light works for vegging. and forget the window.

sorry, i wasnt trying to be rude, i was emphasizing how much you should definitly use the 42 watt cfls, the more light the better, and they work perfect for vegging :)
