I have a 250w CFL and yeah its big just finished a grow and next time i would use a HPS but if heat removal is a problem CFL's are good but I found that not a lot of light reaches the lower buds so maybe 10 26w CFL's would have been better because they can be positioned around the plant where the big CFL is overhead and doesn't penetrate far and my plants where only 2 foot tall
I was looking for bulbs today trying to decide what I'm going to do with my veg area. This is the smallest 105w bulb I ran across. It may work better in a small confined space. http://www.vosslighting.com/storefrontB2BWEB/browse.do?action=refresh_browse&ctg_id=1144 Never really asked how much they cost though. The one on the bottom is 5,000k which is good for veg, not sure what to suggest for flower.
One side of it is in the 3,000k spectrum and the other side is in the 5,000k spectrum. So you only need to buy the one for both veg & flower, and it's $20 cheaper than a Hydrofarm. And it works well too, he's got some great looking ladies with that bulb.
