Jumped the gun on curing

Hey guys.

So I chopped my plant 7 days ago and had the stems hanging.
I waited for the outside of the buds to be crispy and I swear they were. The stems didn’t have an audible snap but more of a crunch.
last night I cut the buds off the main stems and put them in jars.

At this point the buds didn’t have a weed smell, more so grass.

this morning I checked the buds and they were all soft, not crispy anymore so I put them in a box where they could get air but be out of the light.

trying to get help on when I can do to get them crispy and give them a proper cure - and possible give it that lovey MJ smell they had when they were growing.

thanks guys

Ps - no hydrometer

I usually take a cardboard flat if they're still to moist and lay them out for an hour or two, and check the next day when they get close.

I would get yourself a hygrometer though to take out the guesswork. Good ones are like 10-13$ a pop

Thanks for the suggestion.
Do you leave them in a dark place with fan for light breeze?
I’ll go check the H depot today after work for a hydrometer

Now I don’t know much but from my understanding when you go to cure and the outside is still crisp like you said, the inside still has some moisture on the inside. When you jar it it moves that moisture from the inside to the outside. I don’t wait till the stem crunches just a light snap. After the first day or two in the jar it won’t feel Crispy. If it feels too soggy just leave your jar open for a few hours at a time. You’ll be ight.

This is very common and not an issue. I would leave it hang longer next time. It worked for me and the buds smelled better. I had no smell my first time curing also.

no need for a breeze really at this point unless its very humid in your house, and from what you described of them going from crispy to spongy, I would say some moisture came out of the stems and re-moistened them.

If you just lay them out on cardboard or something for an hour or so and then put them back in, and repeat you will get it closer to the cure zone, the hygrometer will ensure you don't mess up. Get a hygrometer that could fit in the jar too, or do it in something big first with one hygrometer. Be sure to "stir" the buds. By this I'm meaning make sure buds at the bottom of the jar aren't trapping moisture or something, when you lay them out and put them back in it will be fine.

Stop rushing to jar or listening to those telling you to re jar at any near point in the future.

Assume buds take a couple weeks and then they wont go moist when jarred.

'Sweating'...you needn't worry. In the future, note how they felt this first time and hold off a day or two more before jarring them up next time. No harm, no foul. Good luck.
