Just a few questions on lighting...

Hey guys/girls,

Just have a few Q's about lighting of my indoor setup which will consist of 3 plants (maybe four). The first question is, will this CFL light be adequate for the plants to grow? http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_2x55w-iron-horse-cfl-twin-tripod-work-light_4876.aspx?search=cfl&searchType=any&searchSubType=products

Or am i better off to buy a few of these bad boys? http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_warm-white-dimmable-cfl-20w-nelson_2360.aspx?search=cfl&searchType=any&searchSubType=products

How much Lumens (ave.) will these lights produce?

And one more thing, I was looking at timers for the lights, do any of you guys use them? E.g http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_24hr-woffset-timer-hpm_3983.aspx

Any advice is greatly wanted, valued and appreciated!
Thanks

I don't know much about cfls, but timers - I can tell you not to cheap out and get a good indoor/outdoor weather proof timer.

Wow.. AU sucks! For the price of that tripod I got a 400W digital ballast, cooltube with HPS and MH bulbs, and free hangers!

Anyway, I'd suggest you look for the GE brand 23W 6500K day white bulbs for vegging. They are like 3 bucks each in the US. Most efficient price per watt and best lumen per watt you can get from CFLs.

For flowering switch out half or so to 2700K soft whites.

The 23W bulbs put out about 1600 lumens each. You need to keep them close, that's why they are so good. Get a bunch and rig 'em up like christmas lights.
