Just A Thought...

All taxes should be eliminated.

.. And in place of taxes, all tax payer funded agencies should have to set up a gofundme donation page to collect funding.

If people care about something they want to do, then they would receive donations.

If people don't agree, well, sorry about your dumb idea, scrap the idea and move on.

It's up to the citizens, as it should be.

Agree or disagree?

How would this be any different than the current system? What you're proposing still just equates to the wealthy making all of the decisions.
Because we wouldn't be forced to pay for stupid taxes. The programs would be funded by us as the people see fit.

Have you seen how the DEA wastes tax money?

Have you heard of the ridiculous things California taxes?

Don't you mean that programs would be funded how RICH people see fit? Much the same way that it is now?

Have a rule so that each tax program needs a certain amount of donors, power in numbers my friend. There are far more lower class and middle class than upper class.

Example. Each taxable program would need a majority of donors to move forward. Citizens have to use the same % of tax money by the end of the year as they normally would pay through federal /state taxes, but as donations. After the majority picks which taxes they feel comfortable with, they can then donate to the particular program that they like. If the epa doesn't get a lot of donations, but had a majority vote, then the government would have to figure out how to use the money they did get wisely.

If there is an abundance of tax money for a particular program, and all aspects of the program have been met, then they can shift the money to whatever other program they'd like.

I'm sick of paying for stupid things. California is proposing to tax vehicle mileage. Gtfoh!

And just to note.. It's just an idea. I'm not a legislation manager :p I feel people as a whole would feel much better about paying taxes that they have a say in, and possibly would even pay more taxes, if the taxes are representing the citizens as a whole, or at least a majority. I think everyone can agree that the government is a little, well.. Sloppy with the money they receive from taxes.

When social security runs out in 20 years, you'll know what I'm saying.

We should pick where the money goes, how the money is used and there should be receipts. The government is basically a corporation, look it up. And they definitely act exactly how a greedy corrupt corporation would.

It's time for some accountability.

Good question. I don't have all of the answers, just an idea that would be better than what's in place now. State taxes could be applied on a state by state basis as usual. Federal taxes would not really be affected by demographics really, as they are not in the current system. I'm sure tweaks could be made to make it operate smoothly (hypothetically speaking).

As it it now, all taxes are one size fits all with no citizen say in how the taxes are used. That's the issue I have.

i hate it when the EPA tells me i need to cover all surfaces within a 25 foot radius when i'm working near lead paint so that children don't get poisoned. fucking government overreach.

Examples.

Ny state. A 100% tax on cigarettes. A large soda tax, just to name a couple of seriously stupid taxes.

California. A mileage tax for driving. A plastic bag tax (which is stupid, but I use green bags anyway but it's the point.) Garbage disposal taxes in certain counties. The list goes on.. All across America.

And I'm sorry you're a sheep ub, but since most real Americans are not, you get another free pass. Bahhhhhhh

Exactly. Just like the 100s of billions of tax dollars that disappeared in Afghanistan. Tell me again why my idea of citizens holding the gov accountable for our tax dollars and deciding how/when and where it should be used is a bad Idea?
