Just Failed My First Grow

hey guys, noob here.

I found some bag seed in some purple kush I had, decided to try to grow them, even though they were really small, they were still brown and healthy looking. I germinated the 2 seeds successfully, Then when I planted them in some MG Premium Potting Soil, I forgot to wet down the soil before planting the seeds, so I just watered it after planting them (maybe like 4 or 5 squirts of water). I didn't put the seeds that far down into the soil, just made a little big enough to fit root in, then sprinkled a mm of soil over top of seed. I then placed them under 3 40w CFL's @ 2700 lumens, maybe an inch or so away from the light. ( see pic )

anyways, I looked at it today (2 days after planting) and the seed and root was all dried out and shriveled up.




what exactly did I do wrong, and how can I correct this for next time?

I'm no expert but it looks like they needed humidity domes

The red is the wrong! BEFORE you plant your seeds. You want to DRENCH your soil. untill you get some water running out the bottom of the container you are using. Let it stand for about 15 minutes to get all the excess water out. Plant the seed, TAPROOT DOWN, no more than 1/2 inch under the top of the soil, put under lights (intensity and how close the lights are do not really matter at this point, the light can be feet away, it just needs to be closer once they pop out of the soil) and LEAVE THEM BE!.. lol, DO NOT water again, untill the soil is dry. In all honesty, after I plant a seedling, I don't water again for 2 weeks at least. Because the soil holds in a tone of moisture, seeing as how there are not very many roots yet, and the plant is not that big yet, to be using up all that water quickly.

EDIT: I just now looked at that picture. Those pots that you have the seeds in, the ones that say you can just plant directly into diry without having to actually transplant or whatever (That's what they look like anyways, is that what they are?) I wouldn't recomend using. I haven't heard anything good about those things at all. The best thing to use, IMO, are the little beerpong party cups. It's what I use for EVERY SINGLE PLANT I GROW, untill it's time for transplant. Oh, and to help out with humidity, if you want to, you can just open up a ziplock bag, and put one OVER each individual pot. Should hold in mousture really well and keep the humidity up. All that I suggested to you, are things that I currently do!

You beat me to it.. Yea lack of water for sure. Water those babies in good when you transplant!! You could have left them with no light for the first day or so but it would have stretched like said above.

Oh well, I'm not to sad about this, I'm all set up and ready to try again! hopefully with better results. I just got to get some new seeds!

Yeah, those are exactly the pots you think they are (I guess I'm going to throw them out) , So when I buy some beer pong cups I should poke a hole in the bottom with a knife or something right?

Also, my grow room is set up in my little bathroom attached my bedroom, Will having really hot showers inside the room help with the grow conditions?

And HELL yea! That's how you need to be looking at it! Now just do a little research, and you'll be able to tell your friends they're smoking your home grown here in about 3 month's-ish.

Not particularly, I don't think so. It may actually be a worry for mold once flower starts. I think you should be OK though. Just keep an eye out for anything suspicious.

I don't mind helping a fellow grower out. The more MJ plants in the world the happier I am! Most people around here are really nice, just make to do your research, and try to figure out some things for yourself instead of not even looking and just asking a question. That's what irritates people. If you've got any other questions I'll do what I can to help. I'm a CFL grower exclusivly. So if you need help I'm here.

Start with good soil too, I started with MG and my first plant has stunted it's grown at about 3 weeks. I'm redoing my entire setup over the next few days and starting all over, luckily it's all bagseed directly from my favorite collective
