Hey everyone! I just finished up harvesting one of two plants from my first time growing and I must say, I'm pretty happy with the results! Both were grown under just over 300W of CFLs. One 105W 5000K and eight 23W 2700K. Both seeds were from Dutch Passion, the one I harvested to day was Euforia. Brainstorm still has another week or so.

And now that I'm done trimming and all those beautiful buds are drying happily in my closet, I'll give you some pictures to look at. This being my first grow and all, I really have nothing to compare this to. That being said, is this a pretty good harvest for one plant? I guess weighing it when it's dry will be the true test, but let me know what you all think :)

Anything that doesn't look trimmed are little popcorn buds I'm just going to use to make butane hash with, along with all the other crystal covered trimmins.

NICE!! Looks pretty juicy to me brotha! I would say you have some fine smoke to smoke in due time. I would try to be patient if possible and give them a good cure for at least a month :)

Thanks everyone! I'm getting really excited to give it a try but it's still got a day or two left to dry and then 3 to 4 weeks for curing. It's looking pretty good though, should be about an ounce off the one plant, maybe a little less. I'll let you know how it smokes and how it tastes when it's ready :)

Good job bro, looks juicy! Now learn for next time, these small pop corn buds have been sucking all that food for nothing. Next time, trim your plants and get rid of your lower branches, anything lower or inner should go, you will see an increase of size and quality of your top buds. Loose the butane and make bubble hash!

You know the phrase that we are always better teachers than students? so after posting and replying on RIU, I go to my room and say I better check out the crystals man, ... so I take my scope ... wtf, it's harvest time! to my surprise most of my colas trichomes are fuckin ready and I'm only on the 7th week. Fact is with those temps, everything is more complicated and change, spiders mites have paid me a visit and I won't take any further risk ... so I got my clippers and chopped the top from 3 ladies, tomorrow I'll finish it. thought you may want to see something since we are in the mood. On pic nº1 you have an example of what do I mean when I say thicker and denser, these donkey are hard as a rock except one phenotype that seems more open! All my plants are trimmed leaving only 1/3 of their height at the top and focusing on main the branches. I have almost a pound so far of wet bud which after drying for 2 weeks and curing for like a month, I'll probably get a 1/4 of stony ww buds. Picture nº2 is just too fuck around, it's the previous crop ready to put in jars for curing, that was about a month ago ...

Thanks everyone :)

So, last night I decided they had dried for long enough (the stems would bend, but wouldn't snap unless I really cranked on them), chopped off all the nugs, weighed it out, and the total after drying, but before curing (I'm assuming they will still lose a little weight during the curing process) we're looking at 62 grams. Just over 2 ounces! I must say, after all the work and time I've put into these ladies, I sure am happy to reap the benefits of all that hard work! Give it a month or so and I'll be letting you know how it smokes bongsmilie

Just my two cents, I found that drying is another very important stage, stems and branches should be snapping and break without much pressure, bending is not enough. You should have a very minimum of moisture before the curing process or you risk to develop mould. Anyway, make sure you open your jar everyday to get rid of any condensation or moisture particles and you'll be fine. Curing is where the biggest transformation happens besides the flowering stage, your will see that the smoke, taste and density change as you go, I still have some curing material that has been in the jar for more than 6 months and the taste has change dramatically, smoother, stonier and tastier.

true, nicely put too.

which is also why I need to say this..

I personally think he started the curing process a tad bit too early. Why? Because.. as 'Kanabis' stated.. you should wait until the stems break (nice and crisp break).. with little to no bending before breaking.. before throwing the buds into curing jars to start the curing process.

But, as long as you keep an eye on them.. they should turn out just fine. Just watch for mold.. especially since you put them into curing before the stems were dry enough to have that "crisp clean" break.. which means there's still a modest amount of moisture left in the buds and stems... which will only invite mold and fungus.. but again.. as long as you keep a good watch over them.. and open the jars plenty of times each day.. to allow fresh air exchange.. your buds should be just fine.

Good luck.

peace.

Thanks for the comments and advice guys. I guess I was just going by FDD's harvest/curing sticky where he said he starts curing once the stems will bend, but only snap if bent all the way over. That's where mine where at. They would bend before snapping, but there was still a little give to them before the snap. I checked on them today and I think you guys are right, they do seem a little too moist still so I'm leaving the jar open for the day and will tighten it back up when I get home later tonight.

Did my harvest 2 weeks ago, getting set-up for my second grow. Let me know how that strain works for ya.
Will do. So far it's been a good grow and a pretty good strain as far as I can tell. I didn't do any major trimming/pruning because this was my first grow and I just wanted to see what they'd do on their own, but I feel like with some good pruning of the lower branches and popcorn nugs, you could get some seriously dense, delicious candy-smelling buds :)
