Well, I just planted a 10day weedling, did some prep and I will not be able to do any caring as I am leaving the country til early september.

Iv read a lot of useful stuff on here, I had planned sticking it in the ground and waiting... regardless of pests...big mistake!

Check out the pics, If there´s anything i can do to increase its survival please tell me and is it too late for an outdoor grow?

Most tiumphant times!

Remove the slug pellets as they cause major problems when broken down by rain, especially with that amount!!

What kind of pests have you had a problem with?If slugs are a problem set a can of beer with the top cut off next to your plants they'll crawl in and die:evil:,anyhow post with particular problems, other than that they wont be huge because you planted late but you should still have a small harvest.good luck.

Removing the slug pellet is going to be kinda difficult as its everywhere... will do my best... Im leaving for a month and a half so I need to conjure up some long term solution to kill slugs´n´snails?? thats why I created that dense slug pellet perimeter haha.

Is it too late to plant?

You can also take some old speaker wire and strip the copper side, cut to length and wrap the copper rings around the base of the plant (loosely). This works pretty well.goo luck.

Slugs hate sand, so that solves the problem.
No its not too late but your yield will be less.

Thanks guys,I appreciate the help, Chewy you´re a bit of a pro at this it sounds... Im gonna use the copper around the stem (loosely), will remove pellets 2mo,
Cheers

Im in the UK and yes I have seen many GREAt BRITISH slugs... this is why I am going to use the beer can, copper wire and pellets(in lower quantities), these slugs would eat that seedling in minutes...

As i prepared the site there were many snails too! this is why Im imposing biological warfare using the slug Pellet

Slugs also dont like to slide over broken egg shells , but that might be a problem if they blow away ... A sand /egg shell mix may do the trick . Good Luck on grow . im growing outside as well . Had a issues with the grasshoppers today tho , they ate a few of my baby leaves =(

I planted this weed in rotten grass (dark green slimey mush) I think it wasnt the best choice for starting off with as the plant had a slightly weak stem.
Im leaving in a week and I was wondering whether I should plonk some more green mush on the top soil for the mush to dry out and provide mutrients when it rains? Again I will NOT be able to look after this plant and im leaving in a week and wont be back till early september

thanks guys
