keep light closer to reduce height?

hi all,

just a quick question.

i'm at the end of my second week of flowering and by plants are about a foot and a half tall. my room has a max height of just under 6 foot.

i guess (hope) my plants wont get that big so i was wondering if keeping my light closer, but at a safe distance will reduce the height?

not sure how tall these girls are going to get, but i really don't want to have to bend them over or anything like that.

thoughts?

thanks

the closer you keep the light the less likely the plant is to stretch. its gonna keep growing til it wants to stop but having the light closer will keep the plant as small as its gonna be.

Hi,

What strain are they? What Light set up do you have? ( Air cooled or not?

I shouldnt think they will stretch to nearly 6ft Would normally only be a pure sativa to stretch that much.

Plants will stretch for light if they are too far away from it but more during the veg stage as opposed to flowering stage. Just keep it as close to the plants without burning them and no closer and you'll do fine.

So how far away are your lights and how are you moving air around them. if you don't mind.
Tryin' to gather 600W hps distance data (plain light/cheap reflector)

my light is within a few inches 10 or less i would say, but i have made sure the heat isn't too much for the plants etc by holding my hand there a while and making sure it wasn't uncomfortable.

don't know the exact distance sorry.

i have a 200mm 8" inline fan bringing fresh air from outside in. i have it hooked up to a home-made thermostat which turns the fan on/off automatically depending on the temp of the room.

i take my temp from near the light, just out of the way enough so that the light doesn't give me false readings.

Wow, you're getting an open faced, 600W hps within a foot of your vegetation? I'm worried about approaching 28" and started at >40" . . . how big of an area would you guess you're lighting? I'm trying to do 4.5' X 4.5" (18sqF) which I think is max for this 95,000 lumin bulb.
