knowing sex before flowering

The only known method that I know of is to take a clone of each of the plants that your flowering. Then proceed to flower the clones first. The clones will then show the sex of the mother or father plants....

I have heard that if you put a black plastic bag on one of the branches and give it 12/12 it will show sex after some time. I havent tried it before but I dont see how it wouldnt work.
