Last 1-3 weeks of flowering: tips & tricks?

Hey, I'm sure many would like to see this so please share your last 1-3 weeks advice, be it flushing, increasing crop size, adding to the potential or whatever.

Personally I always liked to flush more than the minimum 1 week and up to 2-3 weeks at best so that my soil buds taste the best they can, but I don't know many tips for crop size at this point other than just make sure nothing f*cks up.

  • Stop all nutrients two weeks before harvest and allow at least three days after a final watering before harvesting.
  • At maturity, at least 70% of the white pistils should have turned orange/brown and have started to withdraw.
  • Most trichomes should be milky
    • Goal is 10% clear (immature), 80% cloudy (mature), and 10% amber (aged).
    • Some maturing will occur while harvesting / drying so harvest before trichomes are 20% amber.
  • When looking at the trichomes, look at the ones on the buds and not the ones on the sugar leaves. The leaves will mature sooner than the buds.
  • Trichome color is more important than pistil color but ideally both should occur around the same time.
  • For indoor cultivators growing Sativas, changing the 12/12 light cycle to 10/14 during the last few weeks of flowering could help to expedite the harvest.
  • Harvest immediately after a 24-hour dark period and before the beginning of another light period. This helps to reduce the starches that are present in the plant. It also boosts trichome production at the very end.
These are simply MY notes and what I like. Others may have differing opinions. YMMV.

actually letting plants get to the final 2-3 weeks as I become a more and more experienced grower I am seeing how early I would harvest in the past and its a mistake I see eager young growers make all too often on these very forums. if your breeder says its a 7-8 week strain just know its probably closer to a 8-9 week strain so on and so forth

I'm one of those heathen non-flushers. I'm not here to knock flushing at the end of a grow as it just doesn't make sense to me personally. If I feel incline to flush, I typically do it mid-grow to wash out excess salts, and then continue to feed as normal.

One thing I have changed this past year was I don't wait for amber before chopping. I harvest at mostly cloudy and found that the buzz typically is more uplifting than when waiting for the first signs of THC derogation (amber). I also feel that munchies are stronger too......and it cuts about a week off of grow time.
