LED Grow Light-Thoughts Please

Howdy all my fellow farmers,I was just wondering about something.I bought a cheap 15w led board off ebay.Unfortunately Ive not had a "spare" seedling or whatever to try it properly,I just had it beside my cfls before I got my hps.My question is,can these be used to grow on their own,like if I had another 5 of these boards could they be used to grow on their own?I ask because I can see that theyd be great for a stealth grow-no heat,very cheap to run.Do they have to be as close as cfls though,ie do they have to be moved every day?Thanks for taking the time to read this and for any replies.Adios amigos

LED can work great but I would go to the LED section in Indoor growing and look into more powerful system designed for what we do. I wouldn't get a bunch of cheapos.

I switched from cfl to led because they sit about 18" above canopy. Much easier to deal with in flower than cfl.

I hava good setup with led.. it does the job but they are not the best especially the cheap ones.. it will do the job but i just switched to metal halide for veg and got instant rapid growth

idk much but i hear from alot of people that the cheap led light are 100% garbage i agree with growingdad on this one

Yeah,I mean as I said it was just a thought for a stealth grow.I was using cfls for flowering then it dawned on me I was going to end up spending more on bulbs,fittings etc than an hps would cost so I got one,needless to say the difference is phenomenal,and none of this moving lights every day,and thats where I think leds have the advantage over them.Thanks for the replies guys

It will work. Just don't invest too much $$$ in that cheap gear. You get what you pay for, bet you heard that before.

There is a reason they sell high end and low end led panels. It's to satisfy both markets. The casual one plant 1/4-1/2 oz grower (think couple cfls) and the small grower maxing out 2-6 plants at 2+ oz per plant (think 250-400w HID user).

Buy what works best for your grow style and harvest expectation.

Steer clear of the cheap chinese led stuff on ebay. Remember, you get what you pay for....Instead, I'd suggest a small led ufo light, around 90 watts+ or so. These go for a bill on ebay. They have a wider spectrum with blue, white, and red led wavelengths. So you can veg-flower with one light.
