I am interested in using leds to grow. I understand that it is expensive to buy but saves inthe long-run when it comes to ur bill. But since its so new there's not a lot of people out their that's actually did it. I have two rooms, ones for clones, mothers, and vegg. The other room is just for flowering both room are 4ft x 4ft. I was woundering how many led panels would I need in each room? Each panel has 225 leds and are 16watts.

Everything that I have come across, so far, indicates that LED's work fine for vegging - but kind of suck in the flowering stage. LED's put out a very narrow spectra of light, individually, and UV producing LED's are very expensive; so they are omitted in commercially available units. Some LED growers use reptile lights in conjuntion with thier LED's to augment the missing UV-B spectra. Using the reptile lights helps, but they are still less effective than flourescents for flowering! Once LED growlights are "tuned-in" for cannabis flowering there will be a revolution in the growlight industry!

In the meantime, if the panals you mentioned use standard 5mm LED's, you will probably need about one panal for each square foot of space - or 16 panals per 4'x4' side. Most makers of LED growlights make over-ambitious claims about how much area they cover and they are expensive to buy. I would suggest buying a couple of panals and doing a small test grow first. If you know how to solder, check out LED Grow Lights - HomeGrownLights.com they offer some 272 LED growlight kits for $30-$40 (depending on how many you buy).

checkout my led panels dj click the link below. they do give off no heat and the narrow band of specific light is VERY good. just not good enouph alone. I would use LED lights along with a T5 floro fixture, which also give off almost no heat. I use an mh/hps with my led bulbs. However I am thinking of flowering this time with my mh bulb + 2044 LEDs
