Led options

I'm looking to buy a led light soon for a closet grow , the lights I have now are doing the job but won't be enough soon . I have 2 small leds and a cfl right now my main issues I've had so far are with heat when I had multiple cfls.so I was wondering if anyone had advice on the coolest led lights for the price

Basically, stay away from anything cheap, and foreign made.
Single diode LED lamps have been replaced by COB lights.
With COB (Chip On Board) being the next step in the evolution of LED's.

Your heat problems aren't going to go away with the LED light. They produce more heat than what you're presently using. You're going to have to vent it. There's really no getting around that.

That said, for a small closet grow you can't go wrong with the Galaxy Hydro line of lights. If you're only doing one or two plants, the 300 will do the job and it's usually around 85 or 90 bucks. Sometimes it's even cheaper.

But make no mistake: those things have fans on them for a reason: They do kick out some heat.

@Harleyman954 The Mars through out some much heat, because they are very inefficient. I would also look at DIY kits. It sounds like you could get away with 2 or 3 COBs for a total of 150 watts and easily pull over a 1/4 pound.
But no matter which way you go, you need to get air in and out of that closet 24/7.

Depends on the fixture. (How many bulbs, how well it's made, etc.) In the end you're fighting simple physics: You can not generate light without heat. Being in a closet, you're going to have to vent it no matter what type of light you go with...unless, of course, it's winter and very cold.

Yes. Heat is always an issue. If a LED advertises that it performs as well as a 1000W but only draws 600W then it will produce the same heat as a 600W. And LEDs dont come with cool tubes that enable you to pass air over them to cool so in some cases an LED may be hotter. I splurged on a spyder x plus LED. Its the best light I've ever had. It draws 683 watts and outperforms my 1000W HPS. Though that would probably fry a closet grow. Can you drill from your closet into an adjacent room or drill into the ceiling to access the addict? Unless you are using T5s or CFL exclusively you will need to ventilate that room. You can get away with a +10 temperature running CO2, they make little cakes that give off CO2 but I think you will have to exhaust into another room regardless.
