ok so LED's vary in price, however im not about to go out and buy these http://stealthgrow.com/products.htm#SG1202
unless i know for a fact there better than these...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/225-LED-GROW-BOARD-LIGHT-HYDROPONIC-GROW-TENT-/160449913707?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_HomeGarden_Garden_PlantsSeedsBulbs_JN&hash=item255b8f636b

now obviously there's a small price difference... but in there has to be some sort of respectable company who gives you a reasonable deal for a product that works... instead of cheap and nasty led's or vastly overpriced commercial grow equipment.

please if you had a bad experience with LED's that cost you £27.50 please post!!! we can expose the frauds for who they are!!!

I have some DIY lighting that my friend built. Its 50w and it does well for vegging my plants.

My buddy got his from http://www.hydrogrowled.com/. He got 4 of the 205 w panels. They have been used for veg and are now in the first flowering run. I'm very impressed with the results. Plants vegged under the LEDs were noticeably bushier than plants grown under MH or even CMH bulbs.

Since you are in the UK, there's a guy on Ebay that builds very good LED lights. He knows his stuff. Planetary Imports is the name of his store.

I'm using a Kessil magenta right now. It's been excellent for my little grow. Also have a Blackstar 240w panel I got from Gotham Hydro, I'll use it when I expand, but those lights are a pretty good deal and perform very well according to the grapevine.
