Lengthening Socket Cord with Romex Question

Sup y'all,

On my 8 x 1000 watt setup (240V), I will need to lengthen my socket cords so they can all reach my power source. Rather than buy plug and play extension cords for each, I want to splice in custom fit lengths of Romex to each cord since each light is a specific distance from the power source.

Before cutting one to check, I figured I'd ask the community. Are typical socket cords 2 wire (hot, neutral, ground) or 3 wire (hot, neutral, neutral, ground) and what gauge should I get?

Thx

YES they are but wait!!! I did what your saying once and have regretted it ever since... GO buy the stupid $12 extensions, it sucks but keeps your equip OEM and UL certified as well is so much much safer in the long run.

The cords have decent heat and whatnot flowing through them for up to 12 hours a day straight, and 14/2 romex will work but isnt fun to work with attached to a hood, makes it ghetto, and somewhere is a connection that you are responsible for so if you ever have a fire and they say it's cause of that right there you have no one to blame...

Romex is bendable, you could use Nice extension cords but they would almost costs the same as the DUMB extensions that are nice.

Also resale value is BEtter if you dont cut up your cordsets, if you have 6" hoods you will want 8" one day trust me!!!

You're probably right. The "ghetto" factor is what has been concerning me the most.

I have a the PowerBox 12000 with 10 x 240v receptacles + 8 x 8" Raptor Hoods + 8 X Humboldt Micromole Digi 1000w Dimmable Ballasts....don't really want to ghettofy this setup.

Gotta link for those $12 extensions?
