lets talk smell for the first time grower

Hello everyone,

this is my first post and I want to say thanks already for all the info yall got on here. I have found answers to about 90% of my quesitons from just lurking the past couple weeks.


I have not yet decided on my final method or location but know that any solution will need to be stealth (silent,no light,no smell)


I have a few quesitons about the small that I am still unclear on.

1) how long from when you plant the seed untill it starts to smell? (Blue Mystic, Snow White)

2) how bad is the smell really? compared to smoking a few bowls of some kill.

3) is the smell worse as time goes on, i.e does it smell much worse when flowering than it does in the veg stage?


and last, has anyone used someting like this to rid the smell:

Im thinking about using that either in or outside the grow closet, or using it in the basement if I decide on setting up down there.

I hope that has been used as a proven soluton because I have one on hand and could save time and money from looking into another solution.

Your plants won't smell till they start flowering and how long that will be depends on how long you veg them and when you begin flowering. During flowering, the smell can get pretty noticeable even when growing just a plant or two. It's enough to stink up a bedroom if your closet doesn't have proper odor control.

Also the smell is different different than the smoke smell.

Carbon filters are pretty good at getting the smell out of the exhaust from your grow box. You can buy one or make one, and there are DIY guides on this site to make just about any size carbon filter.
