light cycle when autoflower starts to flower?

Hello, quick question! I have my autoflower strain on a 20/4 light cycle. When the plant starts to flower should I put in on a 18/6 light cycle? or would the 20/4 be better still?

Thanks!

I like too give my equipment a rest that's why im on 22/0 atm
It really isn't about resting equipment, I was thinking more along the lines of resting the plants.

If you are running very intense lighting your plants will not be able to tolerate longer light periods. There is a light saturation limit.

That being said under sane light levels, autos will happily grow bud 24 hours a day until chop.

They will flower regardless of light schedule : 24/0 , 20/4 , 18/6 or even 12/12.

Most common is 18/6 all the way thru. I haven't seen much difference in using 20/4 so i use 18/6. It allows multiple stages to run together ( seedlings , vegging and flowering ) in the same grow space.

EXAMPLE :
Short Ryder strains i use 18/6 UNTIL preflower / flower transition THEN 12/12 for bloom.

THE KEY TO RUNNING AUTOS is providing a long " light on " schedule since it is
" hardwired " to grow with a short VEG STAGE ( from seedling to preflower ) in as little as 4-5 weeks from germ. Usually 30 days or so into growth , sexing will show.

And of course .... A good light setup . MORE LIGHT EQUALS MORE BUD
So i say use AT LEAST 18/6 for your autos.

I run a cheap mars 300 96x3 reflector, not the best but gives me 4 ounces average

Appreciate all the replies guys! I use a 400w HPS light. Placed roughly 2 feet away atm. Seen I was getting some light burn and had to move it a little farther away.

20/4--- 24/7 won't change any results but will cost more in electricity. I have compared the 2 over the years. 18/6 and 20/4 are the best. Autos are grown under a "set of rules within themself" Whenever i do autos i do 20/4 from day 1 until chop. even regular photos i don't do 24/7. just a waste of electricity and money

So I have 4 Regular seeds in a tent right now under a 600watt hps ( less then a week old ) Once I find the sex on those I plan on removing the males and introducing 2 Auto silver bullet feminized seeds to the tent (praying I end up win 2-3 females , so let's say that happens , what's everyone's thoughts on the light source ? Never grew with autos and I also will have the other genetics in there that are not auto flower , I also want to say I figured since the auto flower is more flexible with light that would be fine going into a 18/6 and then when the others go into flower it will be 12/12 , exhaust is good and the room stays between 71-77
