light for unsprouted seeds...

Hello...planted seeds in starter plugs and put them under 1 57 watt high output flouro at 10" for about 24 hours now. They are also on a heating pad under a dome. Now I'm reading they shouldn't be in light til AFTER they sprout. Have I done irreperable damage and now they wont sprout? Put em' back in the dark til' they sprout now? Wont be able to get to them for another 10 hours or so. Am I screwed?

if light killed seeds they would ever make it in the wild right? i personally keep my lights on as soon as or the day after i plant the seed so they know where the light is at. it wont have killed them, not at all

it s best to get light on em as soon as they sprout I would put the light on em a day or 2 after planting. there is no way to damage them by lighting like your doing just leave the light on if you want it will be fine then once they sprout move the light closer every day until at desired hight.

You aren't screwed. I started 12/12 from seed. 12 hours of light gives the little ones something to reach for.

Some people put it on 24/0 from seed. It won't do anything.

then again, I grow in soil and has never used a starter plug.

As long as the roots don't get any light, you have nothing to worry about

Some could take a little longer to sprout than others. If you are a new grower, one of the toughest things is learning and practicing patience in a world of urgency that we as humans have become accustomed to.
Deep huh :)
