Light height

So for my first setup I’ve gone for an adjustable ballast hps but I’m not sure what distant I should be hanging it from my plants at different stages.
I was thinking 250W for early veg, 400 for late veg & early flowering & 600 when the plants are fully in flowering.
Cheers all

Really depends on the coverage area. I have never actually measured but with watts 600 and less start about 20" above and move down as you get the feel for it. Good luck.

I’ve got a 4x4 tent but only having 2 plants if that helps?
So just around 20” on the seedlings and then keep raising as they get bigger?

I have a 150w led at 24" above my 10 day old seedlings. I'd imagine you would need a hps a bit higher due to the heat that comes off them, but I don't really know too much about hps lights. Download a lux meter on your phone and it will tell you how much lux is going onto your plants. Seedlings need around 5000-1000ish lux depending on age, there are other variables but this is a good start point. Good luck

Hps height also depends on whether its air cooled and the temp of the top canopy. I wouldnt suggest hps on seedings tho. You can use a light bulb for seedlings. I personally run my leds about 15inches from canopy and my hps about 18inches from canopy when running 600 watt hps. But to each their own.
