light placement

So building my space....

It is going to be 9x5x7.5 and im going to go with 2 dimmable 1000s. My first though was to place the lights so that there is exactly 3' between them and 3' on either side of them, but then i wondered... will the 3' in the middle, which have light overlapping from both lights, be more instense than the light cast down on either side? So do i want the space in the middle to be greater than on either side?

What is the best placement in this situation if i plan to run six plants?

What is the best placement if i plant to run 8 plants (4 per light)?

What type of reflector are you planning on using? This will make a difference. What method of growing are you going with?
I would center 3, or 4, plants under each light, space each light/plants so that the plants come close but don't overlap, space both your lights evenly over all plants. How large your plants will be will be will determine how far apart you have to have the lights also.
I've found it better to space out the light rather than have just one or two concentrated sources. Like 4 250's, or 2 400's, instead of 1 1000. The bigger lights are just too intense and have to be raised much higher. The smaller lights spread out can be lowered and can get better canopy penetration. Just my opinion

I have air cooled hoods. And i plan to run only 6 plants because of my license limitations... might go to 8 if i flower out a mother or two

Then I would either make 2 groups of 3 and place a light over both. Or put all 6 together and space both lights accordingly. The 2 groups of 3 would allow better working space around all your plants.

You just gave me and idea....

I am going to make an adjustable hanging system for them both....

Right on... Another reason I would go with 2 groups of three is that it would also let you run two different stages of flowering, to help have a somewhat perpetual harvest. Put the first 3 in, then a month later, put the other 3 in under their own light. Both lights should be adjustable to accommodate the different stages of growth. This way, roughly every month or so you'd be harvesting 3 plants. That is if you can keep your flower tent supplied with fresh plants every month... not sure about your laws and plant limits.

Even better. Thanks...

I would never have thought of that because i have always gone from seed. But this round i will be starting a mom so doing a perpetual or semi perpetual thing is doable.

Going to follow an article i saw on rui about bonsai moms...i could keep two strains going that way too... along with the blooming six and the clones i could stay within my count...

Thanks again :)

Lightrail 3 mover will help eliminate hot spots and even out light distribution over the canopy.
