light schedule question

hey guys,
im currently growing one plant under 600 watt hps lamp. the problem is my plant is getting to much light and is growing at a somewhat alarming rate. My closet doesnt have room for a 20 foot tall plant so im trying to halt its growth and still get good yeild. The plant is about two weeks into flowering and about 52" tall. I have only 18" from the tip of the plant to the light. Im currently on 12-12 light schedule. My idea is to gradually go to 16 off 8 on light schedule in order to not grow taller but still get some yeild. is this a good idea? any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks :)

i would think that it might stretch more looking for light if the dark time is longer.

start training it with some string. tie it loosly near the top and gradually pull the top over. after a couple of days pull it over some more. get it horizontal and it will get more light and grow better.

i think also by going 16 off and 8 on your plants buds wouldn't be as dense either. you might get light fluffy nugs instead of dense ones. listen to smoke and coke. just tie down the longer branches and colas to help with height restrictions
