Hey I got my light setup and its done bieng built upon mounting I came to the relizaton my ceiling is not strong enough to hold the air cooled light setup I have seen other peoples ight setup and I am wondering can I hang just the bulb and not the hood is there and pros or con to this I will have photos up soon of my setup.

Major con would be a waste of light.

You could possibly hang it vertically, but I'm not sure if a horizontal bulb would like that too much.

What type of ceiling is it? There should be a ceiling joist somewhere. You'll have to tap around lightly with a hammer. You'll know when you find it. It still may not be in the center. You can always find two wall studs, and mount a cross piece between them that will hold your light.

I'd rip that ceiling out of there and use whatever is above it.

can't house it rented lol. I feel like this is my only option lol. ive seen many advance growers and other people that have had very lucrative grows with just the hps bulb hanging from the socket. the urban grower does it. and oh btw that guy dillweed had his 1000's just haning and produced 2.5 pounds
