Lighthouse Blackstar 240w LED.... Any good?

Im lookin at grabbin one of these i've heard a lot of good things about light house in general there is a thread on here somewhere going over their new 2010 HO 90w 6 band led but im lookin to just get a tri band should be fine i would imagine, as i am using cfl's right now and lookin for a bigger better crop without having to go to the 400w hps i have sitting on the sidelines, i have to worry about power consumption and heat especially. I know i am going to have some heat but it wont be near as bad as an hps and venting will be much cheaper for me so...

Anyone have any personal experience with these? Yes? No? I will be keeping this updated i probably wont have it until after christmas but this is what i am going to grab unless someone is kind enough to convince me of another brand of led to go with that wont break the bank...

well im not lookin at grabbin a ufo its a panel that they make its 17"x24"? i think somewhere in there with uv triband at 240 watts the ufos only go to 180 in the tri bands and 90 in the 6 band model that i have seen from them

Hey man im looking at the same light and i've read some good things, i want to use this light to veg and flower around 8 plants in a grow tent i have. I really want to but ti but i also wanted to know if other people have used this light to grow cannbais. If you buy it before me and start a thread please let me know so i can watch and ill do the same for you, im lookin to buy this puppy in the next week. Blaze on man!

I am currently using the blackstar led light. I'm not to sure that the light is 240watts. If you read the WHOLE description of the light it states that it will draw as little as 120watts depending on line voltage purity. I have not measured how much power this unit draws but I did notice upon inspection that it was labeled 160watts. It is hard to get a good picture of the 160watt label as it is hand written under the clear plastic lens. It looks like it was hand written during a quality control check possibly. This leads me to believe they are 2watt LEDs instead of the advertised 3watt. That being said it worked great for the veg stage of my plants. LEDs do a great job during the veg period. The plants hardly even stretch. The plants are now about 3 weeks into flowering and the results could be a little better for the flowering stage.I'm going to finish out this grow just using the LED light for comparison purposes. The next grow I will be mixing the LED light with HID lighting. I believe a combination of a 160watt LED and 250watt MH/HPS system could be just as productive as a single 400watt HID system.

I just got the same light in changed from a 400 watt mh I like it better already I wish I would of took a picture before I changed there is a lot more growth in a 24 hour time frame than it would get with the mh

good to know what i really want to know about is how well its gonna work for flowering. I can use it for veg anytime but veg doesnt require as much juice as getting good nugs off plants do. So hopefully this led does the trick still waiting to purchase mine probably gonna be a christmas present

Just be careful with that company. They do some shady stuff. Check out the growboys website(the place their light won some competation) its nothing more than a front company.

line purity or not, if they are using 3w chipsets they will draw 3 watts.

yeah yeah yeah we've heard all the complaints because they dont have a legit website go say they're shady somewhere else i know enough people that ordered from them and had good experience to not be worried about that man. This isnt a thread to bash the company its a thread to find out how good the light works so take the negativity somehwere else. Have you ordered from them how do you know they do shady shit then.....

Check out my journal, im using the blackstar lighthouse LED. It looks awesome so far, but yea company is super sketch. However, it worked out to my favor, I called "victor" up and he hooked me up with a cheaper price then on ebay with free shipping to cali. Took a long time tho, definitely shipped from china haha.

Um because that whole GrowBoys shit is fake and that is shady shit?

They ship fast you can call them on the phone and they stand behind the led's they sell "I had a power pack go bad and they sent a new one no questions asked". I have 3 240w and 1 300w led from them. Lets just say im gonna buy some more very soon.

^^ good glad to hear it, if this one comes timely and works proper they will be getting a lot more business from me their prices are good on the 240w panels id just buy a bunch of em because i like the 600w panels and 500w panels they sell but i like to be able to move my panels around the plants not just over the top with one panel. I'd rather have 2 240w than one 500w and it comes down to about the same price too.

just picked it up this morning got the 2011 modle intstead of the 2010 model its supposed to be 6 band now but well see when it gets here same price so either way doesnt matter to me +)

ok so all the people that have ordered from them and had no problems... what about that man dont come in here talkin shit about someone who you havent even ordered from just because they did a little questionable advertising to get their name out. All that matters is results. They have a good ebay rep, so im not worried about ordering from them. If you know something about how their light works and how well it does its job feel free to comment but dont come in here and waste your breath because you dont know any more about them than i do... you see what im saying? Comment on things you know about not heard about.

All you asked was how do you know they do shady shit. Well there it is.

RubiChron sense you have experiance with these units my question is how are you able to control the temps from the top of the panel? I am working with an extremely small area and I think I will have to sew up some kind of heat bag to capture the 100+ temps that come out the exhaust vents on these.

I'm concerned about uvs. Better get some safety glasses.

I just noticed a mention of a 1 yr warranty on their ebay page, but it's weird to buy something like this and get no papers at all...and no bloody cust service link on their website.

The light seems decent though, the fan makes a bit more noise than I'd hoped. Maybe I'll get some of those German fans Penetrator uses and swap em out.
