go to walmart and get some cfls. check on the box and you should see a number with a k at the end. you want 6500k which is the blue end of the spectrum and is good for veggie. then also get some 23 watt bulbs they are 2700k thats the red end of the spectrum and is good for flowering. i use 8 bulbs 6 of them are 6500k and 2 are 2700k when i switch to 12/12 ill replace 3 bulbs of 6500k and replace them with 23w bulbs which are 2700k and mimicks fall months. i also recomend going to lowes or home depot and they have a light fixture with a clamp on it. it has a sheild and you can clamp it on to anything which makes your lights adjustable as the plant grows. good luck

Sorry, i forgot to mention that i live in the uk.

Also i've considered getting cfls, but would it be worth getting a single HPS rather than multiple cfls.
I dont have a big budget.

thanks for input. I think i'll go for that one
note that you have a choice of hps, mh, or hps/mh set ups. if you have the money get the hps/mh and both bulbs and you can improve your grow with mh for veg and hps for flowering

The light in my link comes with an mh & hps lamp is that not the same thing?

I'm a complete noob at lighting lol

Get a son agro 430 watt bulb, and a 400 watt ballast, and run hps the whole time... veg to flower.

If you dont do that now, you'll end up doing it later. Once the grow bug bites ya, its all about upgrades.

Good luck :)

they give you three separate choices - hps alone, mh alone or a combo set up. if you go with the combo you need 1 mh bulb and 1 hps bulb - i couldn't tell whether they gave you both bulbs with the combo setup

i see it give you the chose for mh or hps or both......you want both bulbs but the ballast has to be switchable. which since they give you the option of both i would think it is,... but better make sure!!
