Well i want to start my first grow but after getting a 600watt light case with no ballast do i really need this for the light too work and if soo were can i get one cheap online uk?

Yes you need a ballast.

Ebay has lots of entry level stuff. I recommend only buying from a "top rated seller".

the ballast is mandatory. the reflector,, or case u called it, is not.
