hey all,

I currently have my grow at just under 3 weeks now, i have been keeping my two plants under a S.A.D lamp, they love it, very healthy :)

I am looking to find more lights to be able to have afew more plants growing at the same time.

I dont really understand what lights are to be used, i know the easy bit ( blue specturm for veg, and red for flower.) but not sure what else to look for in a bulb.

I found some bulbs on amazon, are these the type of things i should get?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/GreenLamp-Spectrum-2700k-light-Bayonet/dp/B004J401GG/ref=pd_bxgy_light_text_c

if these are decent, how many should i have per plant ?

Thank you
any replies would be helpful :)

Generally, red spectrum can be used throughout while blue is one that only shows its true effectiveness during veg, this is why people either get 2 lights, a dual spectrum or stick with HPS. As for what wattage you need, that's really dependant on how many plants you want and in what area, each light wattage has a different area it will affect and a different amount of penetration.

My personal advice would be to get a HPS unless you're really stuck on height, because they do need to be quite ad istance above your plant, alternatively, you should try to get around 40-100 watts per plant from what I hear, higher = better but beyond that I've been told you risk burns

Thank you for the reply.

i didn't know that red spectrum can be used from seed to harvest, but does having blue for veg increase growth alot, and maybe increase yeild?

and the lights i found in the links, are the half decent?

Yeah they'll work fine as long as you keep them in range and have enough of them to give a decent watt to plant ratio. Yeah though, giving a bit of blue during veg will help you get better yields because it promotes healthy vegetative growth early on, which makes your plants that little bit stronger and gives it the kick it needs to be able to take in sunlight. Some would say it's not worth it but I can tell you it's simple fact that if you give your plant more of what it needs, it'll do better than if it went without. I see a lot of grows using those kind of lights, especially closet grows. In fact I have friends using nearly identical lights and they've produced some delicious buds.
