I'm about to do my second grow. I will be using seven gallon airpots. Last time I used fox farm soil only. I was considering doing my next grow with coco and fox farm. 50/50 blend. Has anyone tried this? Any feedback is appreciated. Would this be better than using soil or alone or am i open to a lot more issues. I've never used coco before Happy Thanksgiving to all

MV,
Just a few comments. Not sure why such a big pot. Things can go wrong in any grow and even more likely with a new grower. I say keep things manageable.

Coco has it's own set of problems related to either cation retention or excess release (especiallu K+). I've never ammended soil with coco but I think you should just use the FF with some perlite like most folks do. I just feel the approach to coco being so different then soil may create issues. But opinion only.
Good luck,
JD

people will tell you that they grow awesome weed mixing soil and coco, and maybe they do, but they're the rare exception.
they have different ph ranges, and different strengths and weaknesses. those strengths don't seem to complement each other. coco or peat tend to make soil stay wet for too long, and soil impairs the oxygen retention abilities of coco, and the "airyness" of peat....
i think you'd be miles better off using perlite instead of coco or peat in soil.

My last outdoor grow I did a 50/50 of roots organics Greenfield and FFHP. RO on bottom half FFHF top half. Purely as an experiment, in 5 gallon buckets btw. Put clones in the first week of June harvested 1st week of oct. Gas mask strain, and it came out satisfying for me. 20181010_153756.jpg 20181012_134156.jpg 20181010_070252.jpg 20181008_121907.jpg
