Obviously you cant afford that amount of space between plant and light. So the best option would be to run more boards at a softer rate (lower current) That will allow them to be closer to your plants substantially.

Or run a bunch of 2ft strips.

I can't quite figure out a simple rule to follow for strips in a small box. I'm a smart guy but this really is science to get right, and I dont have that much cash to invest poorly.

how many watts/lumens or strips would be good for a single plant? in a small box like mine. Ive seen anywhere from 50-150watts led setups but strips im having a hard time to grasp the rule of thumb

You might find that means you can afford two boards on their own and then buy a smaller driver like a meanwell xlg 100 , which should be cheaper , without the extra cost and weight of the heatsink and by sourcing the driver local it might still be in your price range.

As an example you can buy QB v1 boards local (if your in US) for $29 and the driver should cost around that too, that probably comes in $90 range .
Like I say, I don't know what those kits sell for on ali express so maybe that's more than you have budgeted.

As far as strips go, you can google LEDgardener strip builds and he will show designs for 2x2 space and list various strips worth using including part numbers .

Maybe a silly question, but I don't live in Canada anymore, so my options are limited, and im focusing the few honest and good deals on Aliexpress/Alibaba. I have less choice then everyone else :'(, unless I want to fork up serious shipping costs.
