Dude, love is a really complicated emotion. I don't even know what it is or how to describe it.
I've been what I thought was "in love" once. At the time, that's what I thought, as time passed and I got a better perspective on the whole situation, I realized it wasn't love.
I think love is partly real but I also think it's extremely exaggerated, especially by proponents of a "nuclear family".

love is a complicated thing, as there are different types of love, acknowledged for thousands of years as separate things... kinda like different forms of schizophrenia 
but I think you're talking more of man/woman/traditional love..... I believe it's one of those things that starts out as any relationship does, as just a sexual/personality connection; which is then built on by time and good/bad/crazy times that you've gotten through together. So in summary, I guess the love you speak of, in my laymen's terms at least, is a best friend that you live with, fuck, and make kids with, and share experiences whether good or bad.
