Low 410A Charge

Had a schrader valve leak when I let the charge go. It's been operating well enough except when I bring in an extra light or two and then my indoor coil freezes up. I'd bet my horse that it's a low charge from when I lost some refrigerant when first setting the unit up.

I'd rather not buy all the evacuation equipment to remeasure, so isn't there a way using the pressure gauges I can charge this? I only have one service port and so I know I'd have to add the liquid slowly.

unless you have all the temperature gauges you could just hook up your gauges and tank and add SLOWLY until you feel your at a comfortable level, meaning low side(big line ) is cold and sweating and not frosting up. this shit isn't rocket science like they make it out to be, I can charge an r22 unit blindfolded with a hose and no gauge!! the frost will always start inside and work its way to the compressor, so make sure the indoor coil is cold and sweating. you know they make a valve core removal tool where you don't lose any charge to change out a valve stem..

That's what I ended up doing. I do have a valve core removal tool too.
