low bay metal halides

I have been looking for a while now and still have not been able to find an accurate
and or reliable source..

I have a low bay 400 watt metal halide fixture and ballast. If anyone can help me remove the ballast from the fixture and bulb it would be greatly appreciated.

My main concern is the weight of the ballast.

Its hard to say without pics of your light. Most of the time it is only a matter of removeing the mogul base for the bulb and adding a length of wire in between them to the desired length. Make sure it is a heavy guage wire and not a cheap extention cord. Other than that, without knowing what it is thats all I can tell you.

i have to get my camera cord from a friend so ill get some up soon but the socket it only held in place by 2 screws and nuts, i have not taken it off yet.

when i remove the socket from the ballast are the wires going to be the typical 3 colors and i just splice them together?

and appreciate the help

The socket will have a black wire and a white wire. I used a heavier extention cord that I cut the ends off and used only the 2 wires. To splice them I used wire nuts and then wrapped in electrical tape. I used a high bay light that I "found" at a construction site i was welding at. It worked great for my grow.
