Low Profile Pots?

So i have like 5'4" of height and gunna be growing in ffof/sunshine #4 and want to save as much space as possible. I am debating using a tubberware like container that's almost exactly the square size of my tent 2'x2'. I would have two plants in the container, it is approx 9 inches high. My question, this will be plenty of soil i feel, but will it be too shalllow? would the roots just go out more horizontal or would it restrict root growth? I am not worried about having 2 plants in one pot, root competition is far from a bad thing.

It will work. Is it the best thing? No. I would just as soon use 2 big coffee cans in a saucer.

not sure i have ever seen a 10 gallon coffee can....are u trolling/dumb?

I wouldn't advise on having two plants in the same pot. That could create a range of issues. As for the size and shape, you can get away with almost anything. Those totes at ~15inches deep would be OK, with plenty of space for lateral root growth. Not something I would do, but provided you can get them to drain well, they'll grow a plant for sure. In such a small tent, maybe you'd want to go with one plant

i used to grow in huge boxes i made of plywood lined with plastic (no drainage) that were like 6'Lx6'Wx1'H with wheels on the bottom so u can separate them and get at inside plants. I just put as many plants as i could fit in their own ~1sq/ft area and never had any issues. i use 1:1 Sunshine #4 and FFOF. Would u mind explaining what problems you feel they will have by being in the same pot? i really am just doing this to maximize the soil space they can get without wasting vertical space, i could probably achieve the same thing in 2 containers if it would help.

My thoughts on 2 plants in the same container, are that if both plants are at risk should something untoward occur - nutrient issues, soil borne pests etc. The risk might not be so big, and given your experience, maybe not something to stop you. The other concern is just on root competition. In some instances I think it's good to maximise planting density, but in containers it might limit ultimate productivity of the plant. A 2x2foot space isn't that big, so would have thought one plant with a larger root zone would probably do better - are you growing from seed or clones? same cut? I could understand if you wanted to run two strains, but that would possibly be more of a challenge than two cuts of the same strain. Just things to be mindful of more than anything

Im actually getting 5 different strains i want to grow, all seeds from Attitude. I will be running them in a rotation until i figure out which likes my process the best or which i like the best.Plan on 1-3 plants in flower perpetually with a max of 6 plants at any time. So always at least 2 in veg and 1-3 in flower. I live in CA and dont want to mess around with over 6 plants. After the initial seeds i will be taking clones, but not keeping mothers, any plant i put into flower i will just clone if i want to keep the genetics.

Sharing a reservoir isn't a bad idea, people do it all the time with ebb-and-flow setups (I don't think I've seen an E&F grow that didn't share a reservoir). As long as you know none of the plants are males it's not too bad. You could also put a piece of plastic (you can buy hard plastic sheets at the hardware store) between the plants to keep the roots separate, so they'd share a reservoir like a RDWC setup, but with no chance of the roots getting tangled so they can be removed if needed.

Edit: Just realized we're talking about soil, but my point is still valid. The plastic sheet between plants would even work better with soil than hydro, IMO.

Sharing a reservoir and sharing a soil root zone are two very different things.
