Retired Lt. Col. Ralph Peters, a longtime analyst for Fox News, told colleagues he is done with the network he says has become "a propaganda machine" for President Trump.

Peters said in an email first reported Tuesday by BuzzFeed that he chose not to renew his contract as a paid contributor with Fox News on March 1 because he was "ashamed" of the network.

He said the 21st Century Fox-owned cable channel has gone from being a valuable conservative voice to "assaulting our constitutional order and the rule of law, while fostering corrosive and unjustified paranoia among viewers."

Peters' comments directly targeted the network's opinions hosts — which include Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham — for their consistent attacks on special counsel Robert S. Mueller III's investigation into Russia's interference with the 2016 presidential election. Mueller is also looking into whether Trump obstructed justice when he fired James B. Comey from his post as FBI director.

This is his statement on why he's telling Fox to fuck off

"When prime-time hosts — who have never served our country in any capacity — dismiss facts and empirical reality to launch profoundly dishonest assaults on the FBI, the Justice Department, the courts, the intelligence community (in which I served) and, not least, a model public servant and genuine war hero such as Robert Mueller — all the while scaremongering with lurid warnings of 'deep-state' machinations — I cannot be part of the same organization, even at a remove," Peters wrote. "To me, Fox News is now wittingly harming our system of government for profit."

Bravo, sir.

Peters' remarks are noteworthy because as a Fox News national security analyst for 10 years, he has been a foreign policy hawk who frequently criticized the Obama administration, so that says something about his honesty in calling a spade a spade. He simply calls it as he sees it, no matter what.

Fuck FOX "news", which has been on a mission (too make money) to divide this country into a war zone, with a we vs. them mentality since it's fucking inception (tks Murdoch) and they won.

Once Trump is gone, they're done, only the monkey's in their cages will still be watching.

At least Murdoch is consistent. All of his media ventures from The Sun on have been filled with boobs.

Don't be so sure. PT Barnum made a very good living his whole life selling bullshit to the gullible and Faux Spews will always retain a certain portion of its low intelligence audience.

However, the rest of us may actually be convinced to actually do something to rein in their dangerous brand of self aggrandizing extremism. That would be progress.

well first off, they are NOT a news organization. 2nd, they have no integrity. and 3rd FUCK RONALD REAGAN for getting rid of the fairness doctrine and allowing propagandist traitors like this to have time on our airwaves.

Agreed on all three counts; Fix News has as much in common with real news as WWE does with real sports.

It says a lot about the lowest common denominator of their viewers that both remain so popular. Turns out there's a lot of overlap between those two demographics, too. Who's shocked?

The problem with low information voters is that attacking the credibility of their sources is a pointless exercise.

This is true no matter which side of the aisle they sit on.

The public needs to stop relying on news outlets and start doing their own research/critical thinking. These mainstream and even indie news is selling propaganda towards one side of the spectrum along with telling folks how/what their views should be.

when your motto is "we report, you decide" you are not a fucking news organization. fox news is in a class of fearful/hateful entertainment for mentally retarded people.

fox news is alone is false presentations, propaganda and lies, when it comes to cable news.

fox news is damaging to america and democracy.

Da fuk?

At the risk of pointing out the obvious, what do you think news is FOR, anyway? You've conflated 'news' and 'opinion'.

The Reagan adminstration (Republicans) ended The Fairness Doctrine, which was put in place to ensure that television and radio news was, fair, factual and balanced. Shortly after its revocation, Rush Limbaugh began his infamous radio show and in the early 1990s, Fox News was born, ushering in the current era of politically slanted and occasionally downright incorrect, misleading and manipulative 'news' broadcasting.

The reason given for the renovation was 'free speech', yet free speech has never been a valid excuse for lying. There's no conflict between First Amendment free speech rights and regulations designed to ensure that the gathering and dissemination of news is equitable and accurate.

Wikipedia;

The fairness doctrine of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), introduced in 1949, was a policy that required the holders of broadcast licenses both to present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was—in the FCC's view—honest, equitable, and balanced.
