Male or female seeds?

I was just wondering if anybody has done any actual tests on telling the difference between male and female seeds? I was wondering if anyone would want to try this and post their results? Just use the guide below to determine sex and label plants accordingly.

i've seen this guide before and i think it's a bunch of poo...
my thoughts are that seeds contain both male and female genetics... my reasoning behind this is how can we explain hermie seeds otherwise?? as we all know, hermies are when an otherwise male or female plant expresses the opposite sex, usually in flowering..
if a plant can exhibit both sets of sex'es in a plant, to me the logical conclusion is that both sets of chromosones must be present in the seed stock from the get go, otherwise it would be impossible for hermie plants to exist...

I've seen this guide before as well... Pure Bovine Scatology. A real classic. Along with the myths surrounding the use of human steroid hormones (progesterone and estrogen) to change the sex of plants I count this as yet another grower with better weed than they have growing ability and/or knowledge.

I seriously don't know how they can tell if a seed is going to be female or male I am wiht the rest of these guys I am calling bullshit too. I have bought feminized seeds before and out of ten seeds 4 were males so go figure. I think you can increase your chances of a female by having your seedlings in about an 80-85 degree environment and about 80-90% humidity. I always start out this way and it seems to produce more females than males to me but it is just my opinion there are way more experienced growers than I. But don't buy into the feminized seed thing it is just another way for a seedbank to make more money off of the same seed.

ime, i have had 100% females from my fem seeds, but i try to stick with the breeders who seem to have the fem thing down better then some others..
may i ask what breeder you got those results from m8 for shits and giggles??

i just tried to reduce my daylight hours this grow as i've read that fewer hours of light in the first three weeks of veg will give more ratio of females to males... it worked out for me, but it was only my first time trying it though..

Why don't you guy's try picking females like the pic before you judge? That's what I did with my first batch of home grown seeds and so far it's 100% correct. Sometimes a short sighted person(like me) can see the perfect round with the naked eye.(magnifying glass for sure) Ten for ten females, four for four males.

People who buy feminized seeds need to read more on genetics/dna.

I ordered NYC Diesel Fem from the Attitude and I believe they were Pyramid seeds. I agree about the breeder statement, however I have had the experience with TGA subcool as well....I realize nobody is perfect and I can spot males early in growth anyway so it did not bother me to much. I love the attitude though and will continue to use them for my meds......

subcool doesn't even sell feminized seeds...

ok, than please explain to me how we have hermi's in marijuana plants if you would??

now if we can put together a test site wide, we may be able to narrow this down. we would need say 10 growers to honestly and accurately document a germination and veg growth. then doing a quick flower should point out the results. we could know in as few weeks whether this proved true.

pics of the seeds would be a start, then make a judgment call on if you think its a girl or a boy, then run the test.

What say you??

That's right, get a bunch of seeds, post all the pics and say which you are keeping and tossing and then later post the result- just don't lie.

Anyway my 2cents worth is that the genetics seem to be in the seed for both and that it can go either way- especially since environmental factors can cause hermie and such. Even when the seed appears to be one sex, that just means it's more likely to express those sex genes but the other is still there and has a chance to come out.

My experience tells me that hermi traits can be in the seeds DNA, to have a chance of getting hermis the mother plant was 'STRESSED' or a hermi herself. In normal conditions, like mine, my seeds were not stressed therefore unlikely to get any hermis, unless i fuck up.

Hermi's are in the seed/mom's genetics if the mother turned hermi. Growers sell these things, they call them feminized, and some think their just normal seeds, and sell them. Too bad. I hope I never have to buy from those fuckhead so-called breeders again.

Uh I have 6 fem seeds going right now and none have hermied yet- so why would i call the people who sold me them to me "fuckhead"s ? It has helped me not have to grow a mother for each strain and not cull back like 50% of my plants after growing them and fertilizing for 6 weeks. On my first grow i had 8 plants to begin with and only 3 were female.

if not, how on earth can a plant show both sexes if they don't have those genetics alreaady present in them from the get go..??

As far as I have been told female cannabis plants are supposed to go hermie late in the season most likely when it is past the optimum harvesting time for the drugs and they have not been pollinated by a male, as it is a survival trait to keep cannabis plants alive and thriving in the wild when no male plants are present...

I could be wrong but it is what I have been told...

The get go would be when the seed is concieved, at that point decides your DNA/genetics of your individual seed. Stressed or hermied mom or dad DNA passes at this point. Now you get what you get, good female or lousy male or even lousier hermi or a hermied female?! I guess this would mean a male turning hermi? or a male going female? no. Like were born gay?! Tell these people to quit hyjacking your thread. As far as a side by side comparison goes there's no need, I already know it works.

If I think what the others are saying is right, every seed does not contain every trait possible, think when you were concieved, what determined your DNA? There's not much difference in seed generation.
