Maui Waui ScroG, 2 x125W CFLs, Flood & Drain, Cabinet Grow

There aren't too many Hawaii Maui Waui CFL grows on these forums, so after a RIU hiatus, I thought I'd run this for anyone who is interested in the strain and the growing methods I use.

My current setup:

2 x 125W Maxibright CFL bulbs (6400K for vegging, then I swap them for two 2700K during flower)
Double-decker cabinet (ghetto rigged two cabinets together), upper half (growing chamber) lined with mylar, lower half contains the water tank
Homemade flood and drain hydroponic system, using clay pebbles and rockwool cubes as growing medium

Below are some pics after a little over a week:

And here are some a week later (just took these):

This grow is really similar to my last, in that the plant (although a sativa dominant strain) stays really short and bushy until she gets her 12 hours of darkness per day (flowering light cycle). Only then does she start to stretch out. All the new growth is coming straight out of the main stem, with almost zero inter-nodal spacing. My last plant (Original Amnesia from Dinafem) looked like a short bush until I started flowering her, but she grew fantastically well into the screen during flower.

My screen is about 18 inches from the base of the plant, so I figure it'll take another 3-4 weeks of veg until the plant is about 15 inches tall. I'll flip her to flower when she's an inch or so below the screen. This is the boring part of the grow. Not much happens, so unless I get direct requests to do so, I won't post any more pics until another week has passes. Daily pics aren't that interesting once you're a few grows deep.

As always, feedback welcome. Keep it friendly, peeps.

Peace

Yeah, Maui Waui is a sativa dominant strain. I know - it's short and bushy like an indica, and the leaves are fat too. It looks exactly like my last grow did at this stage (Original Amnesia, which is also a sativa dominant strain).

Sort of makes me wonder if the seed banks are actually giving people what they order.

I've got about 15 different seeds (feminized, all different strains), so I'll be growing a Jack Herer when this one is done. We'll see how that one pushes out of seedling stage, and if it grows anything like the Amnesia or the Waui did. If it does, it might have to do with the way my grow is set up..

Quick update:

These pictures were taken about a week ago

When it comes to nutes, this plant/strain seems a little delicate, and is prone to displaying a little scorching when she receives a fresh dose.

Here are a few pics I just took, which puts us at day 41 (I think) from seed.

She's developing nicely. Still really short and bushy, with crazy-tight internodal growth. Given her current growth pattern, I figure it'll be another 7-10 days before she's tall enough to reach the screen and begin her flowing light schedule.

I'll post more pics when she grows a few more inches. I might top her, too. I'm in no immediate rush to flower her, so I don't mind if topping her and shortening her adds more time to her vegging period. We'll see.. Slow and steady wins the race, chaps.

Comments welcome.

Peace

She's filling out nicely, although it'll be a little while longer before she's tall enough to reach the screen.

Another week perhaps.

Just changed the bulbs from 6400k to 2700k, and filled the tank with her first batch of bloom nutes.

Today will be her first day of the 12/12 light cycle too.

She's about 18 inches tall.

Wow, looks really nice. What are the dimensions of your box?

Also, what is your opinion on 3 42w bulbs vs 1 125w bulb? Going to be starting my first grow soon and trying to figure out what i want for lighting

Signs of sex have appeared. She's starting to stretch, and requires a little tucking under the screen most days, but other than that the grow has been pretty low-maintenance.

More pics in a week or so.
