Max watts for a 2' by 2' single plant grow?

I bring up lights that are 100 watts, supposed to be for a 2' by 2' grow, like one plant basically. Yall laugh because its only 100 watts. So I am curious, what is the max watts you think you could safely have LEDs for a 2' by 2' single plant grow without harming your plant from too much light? I know the devil is in the details, but just very generally. 300w? 1000w? More? These 100 watt ones are pretty darned bright in the small space they cover lol.

I use a combination of mh/hps & led's and 2 x 2 is pretty small,I have a marshydro ts that draws 300 watts(150x2 drivers)and it measures 21"x19".I don't think any more light than this would help.I think its 122k lumens.

I had 4x samsung strips in a 28”x15” (so just under 3 square foot) running at 150w total and my plants were small and unhappy looking. Took the light to @diyled who built it and using his meter found I should go no higher than 90w total for optimum growth. I was blasting the plants with too much light and they had no way of escaping it, hence they were trying to minimise their exposure by keeping small and curling leaves away from the light.
That tallies with the 30-40w sq foot mentioned above as being the range you need to aim for.

Its not about watts, it's about ppfd and par numbers. So as long as its efficient, 100 watts should definitely do the trick for a 2x2.
