Maximum wattage question...

If the outlet says maximum wattage is 75W are they referring to the wattage equivalent or actual energy used in watts? For example, I have a 75W max outlet with 2 23 watt bulbs on it (100 watt equivalent each). Am I good?

Yes, with cfls, the actual wattage is the only number you should pay attention to, well and lumens. The equivalent rating is a measurement of the wattage of an equivalent incandescent light bult, which is why incandescents are far too inefficient to grow plants. And the fixture you are using is fine as long as you don't exceed the rating. If you can find the work lights with ceramic socket fixtures at you local hardware store, they are rated for far more wattage. Just a little extra insurance.
