I have heard rumors that putting certain pills in the soil can help your plant turn female.
Curious if anyone knows this is a fact or a crack jack? +details if true
ok, done a quick google... this rumour seems to go bacck to the 80s... with various claims about its effect, some say it makes them grow huge while others actually say it turns males into females - there is absolutely no evidence of this, and theyve definately had enough time to test it out. Plants do produce chemicals similar to those found in BC pills - but i think thats just it, someone like me with no real knowledge of biology or chemistry sees the similarities in names and their minds go racing. Your welcome to do a controlled test but id check with your girlfriend before swiping all her pills
yeah, plant hormones aren't really that much like human hormones. At most, if this worked, it would reduce the number of male flowers for hermies, but wouldn't change the sex, as that's pretty much impossible.
I though sex wasnt defined until you start flowering cycle? drop 1 in there around that time maybe.. should suggest it to mythbusters team for sure ... and also do they have to be a certain size before giving them nutrients? Or can they have it from seedling ?
=== just discovered in nutrient thread you can use from seedling... ill just keep te mix really weak till im comfortable with it... as it is designed for orchids lols cheap from big W... it says for use on "all flowering plants" .. and it has another that is a "bloom booster" so i am hoping this will be close enough to what is needed save me a few pennies along the way..
