At the end of 2013 one of the brightest comet in generations, ISON, will be visible, if it survives it's pass by the sun.
This comet has the potential to be visible during the day.

............?

was a joke but it's from the bible...

Although the word wormwood appears several times in the Old Testament, translated from the Hebrew term לענה (la'anah), its only clear reference as a named entity occurs in the New Testament, in the book of Revelation: "The third angel blew his trumpet, and a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many died from the water, because it was made bitter." (Revelation 8:10–11, New Revised Standard Version).

That would be cool to see but do you remember comet Kahotec? It was supposed to be the biggest and brightest comet we'd ever see and it was a huge fail. It was in the late 70s or early 80s during the winter. It sucked, pretty much like the end of the world we had on the 21st. A no show. Hope this one won't be the same.

Kohoutek was in '73/'74. I recall they hyped it hard. In '76 West was a more spectacular comet, but outside the specialist press nobody heard about it. cn

No one mentioned Hale Bopp. In the early to mid 90's in the south east US it put on a spectacular show for what seemed like months and if I'm not mistaken that was the comet that the people from heavens gate thought that a spaceship was hiding in its tail and was coming to rescue them from this terrible place we call earth and they all commited suicide......boy talk about commitment to an idea!

One year before the Bopper was Hyakutake. It wasn't as bright, but I was fortunate enough to have perfect weather and a drive into the mountains. The delicate, straight tail stretched across twenty-plus degrees of sky. cn
