MH & HPS - Help Me Out Here

I've read a lot about lighting on this site, and I am about to buy a light. The question is, does vegging with a MH bulb and flowering with a HPS bulb produce much better results as compared to just using an HPS bulb for both stages. Cuz I was about to buy a light with a ballast that can operate both bulbs, its about $60 more than just getting the HPS. Is it worth it? I've read things saying that vegging with HPS makes long, skinny plants, but I see people all over this site who use HPS and they look good. Let me know what you think.

prepare for several different opinions, mine - a good spectrum MH (Hortilux blue) will make better weed, hps produces big buds, MH produces chronic. I like the idea of using MH with some warm cfl to supplement red.

Ineedofbuds is right!!! Using hps is good for veg and bloom. But you will have better results with mh in veg and hps in bloom. Not a drastic difference but better. If you got the money get the universal ballast and use both!!! Mh grows faster and hps grows thicker, denser, and BIGGER buds.
