Pretty soon the mailman will be a armed federal police officer. That just happens to drop off mail.

Our police are being transformed into soldiers. With the instruments of warfare coming for free. Welcome to the police state.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration is preparing to restore the flow of surplus military equipment to local law enforcement agencies under a program that had been sharply curtailed amid an outcry over police use of armored vehicles and other war-fighting gear to confront protesters.
They've always been able to buy surplus, anyone with a legitimate need has. It's called DRMO, they still have to have the budget necessary to purchase those items and they aren't cheap.

A larger problem is civil asset seizure which is supplementing the budget of police forces, and I believe that they will increase (the frequency of asset seizure) as a direct result of being able to access military equipment again.

Trump is simply going down the list of things that Obama did in his terms in office, and reversing them.
That's his agenda, and so far he's doing pretty damn well at it, asshole that he is.
Under Trump, this nation is going backwards, rapidly, just like his popularity.

mmm the popo got plenty of weapons under Obama. All Obama did was limit the cops on some of the weapons they can get but not an outright ban.

"According to a report issued by the White House, the task force recommended banning the sale of some equipment — such as tracked armored vehicles, weaponized aircraft and high-caliber weapons and ammunition — after weighing their utility to local police and the "the potential negative impact on the community if the equipment was used arbitrarily or inappropriately."

Local police departments can still buy this equipment on their own. They just can't buy them from the feds or buy them using federal money."

What Obama did was in reaction to the cops using these military gear to beat on the populace in Baltimore, Fergason etc.
It was a step in the right direction but not enough.

Trump is totally wrong on this.

great piece by Rand Paul on the subject. Why do the cops need bayonets? They have gotten 10,000 of em.

Here is a little bit of the article that Paul penned.

"
National Review’s John Fund has observed: “The proliferation of paramilitary federal SWAT teams inevitably brings abuses that have nothing to do with either drugs or terrorism. Many of the raids they conduct are against harmless, often innocent, Americans who typically are accused of nonviolent civil or administrative violations.”

Fund also notes: “By 2005, at least 80 percent of towns with a population between 25,000 and 50,000 people had their own SWAT team,” and that “the number of raids conducted by local police SWAT teams has gone from 3,000 a year in the 1980s to over 50,000 a year [in 2014].”

Given these developments, it’s natural for many Americans — especially minorities, given the racial disparities in policing — to feel like their government is targeting them. Anyone who thinks that race does not still, even if inadvertently, skew the application of criminal justice isn’t paying close enough attention. Our prisons are full of black and brown men and women who are serving inappropriately long and harsh sentences for nonviolent mistakes in their youth."

The criminals are at large in the Trump Administration and this is just another move to shut down protests and the whole other side. That orange monkey needs to be locked up along with that kocksucker Joe.

Exactly right! Obama hurt his feels when he called him out at the correspondents dinner and Trump has had it in for him ever since. He's trying to undo everything Obama did, no matter the consequence. Fucking child

Police State USA.png

The time for citizens to demand the respect of our government has come. Either they respect our constitutional rights- or they've lost the authority to govern given to them by the People and we should stop respecting their rights, too.

What is the difference between fascism as described in your post and a tyranny or totalitarian government with dictator leadership?
The two are different. A dictatorship is one leader running everything, where fascism can operate through the political system without any one individual as the focus. It is possible to have one without the other.

I think America looks a great deal like the second.
