Hey man, depends on your extraction and if your running a coolhood.

I can get my 600 about 8-10 inches off in the winter over here and summer, ive got it about 12-18 inches off.

If their young plants, id prob back the light off a bit.

They say, put the back of your hand under it and if its too hot for you, its too hot for them.

It's clones in my own super soil with an air cooled hood. It's cold here so I'm gonna start at 12" and go from there. Yo

should be sweet man, just chuck your hand under it for a min and if its a bit hot, back off. do you have a fan circulating in front of it? ive found its helped get a bit closer. ill attach a photo how I mean, I just hung it with cable ties.

Also how you running your aircooled hood, fan before or after the hood?
The exhaust is:
Scrubber>light>Tent>Fan>ceiling

My intake is just a hepa filter>tent>fan into bottom of tent.

I'm gonna try and get the best negative pressure in the tent.

I def gonna have oscillating fans on the plants.

My last grow had no exhaust and I got the white powdery mildew. This should fix that.

Mate, firstly I recommend going this way - Filter, fan, light and then outta there. Fans wear down overtime with hot air blowing through them. I also know one person that had a fire In the light and all it did was suck it through the fan damaging it and catching other shit outside on fire. This I believe was a freak occurrence but.

What size tent you got and what size fan? personally id ditch the intake, the exhaust should be all is needed to pull the air through to create negative pressure.

I have no intake fans, just passive air.

They are 500cfm fans and I got speed controllers all in a 5x5 tent.

I'm gonna add 1 more dimmable 600 on the next grow and dim accordingly.

The tent has a flaps you can open on them and I was just gonna open a flap and have the exhaust suck in new air through it via a window that will be open in the room.

So:

Tent fires scare me..

Sorry maybe im just really high and not clicking, but are you using a fan for the intake as well? or just using passive intake?

Tent fire I believe are rear

For the intake I was gonna just open the flap and a window while I'm in Veg mode and the plants are little.

In flower I was gonna (For intake) use not an inline fan but a little stationary fan in front of flap in the tent to aid in the sucking for more air for air exchange. One of those 12" 25$ fans with 3 speeds.

I'm just gonna create a draft that comes in through the window, up and out the ceiling.

When it gets too cold at night I'm gonna close the window. This is good for security where I live too.

Just woundering why you feel the need to use 600watts on clones??? Waste of energy clones don't need that much light to roots

I'm gonna put em under a 24 watt T5 light for 1-2 weeks.

My hid ballast is dimmable. So when I switch lights I'm gonna only run it at 1/3 power for about a week.

1/2 power for another week.

Then to 2/3 power, and after that the full 600.

that dimming feature is a waste , use that t5 24watt until fully rooted then run bulb at 600 and just lower your light as they et older start at 2 feet then lower 20" then leave it around 18 . But take full advantage of the low watt cloning stage good luck

Ok, I'll just blast em with the full 600 right after the T5....having them a little longer under the T5.

I'm gonna trade up pots at the light swap to 1 gallons.

Here's a pic of the clones

i wouldnt worry about an intake fan even in flower

For a 600 watt on 4 clones what's the minimum distance to hang the lamp? Yo
to the chart that every grower has used since .....

I like to hang a thread of me light that is 8 inches long so I know I'm in the 'zone'
but be advised depth on light penetration has a lot to do with current air temp
good luck
