Minimum ppfd for preventing issues

Hey guys i was wondering lets say there was an issue with your a/c so you dim your lights down just to keep the 12/12 cycle going, how low can you go before its not even helping you?

Like if you had an hlg 550 light or a spydrx+ over a 4x4, could you dim it down to 50w and it would be enough to prevent hermies? Or like 100 or 150w?

Depends on your enviroment, dial it down low, check your temps and dial it up untill you hit your desired temperature. My 2 cents...

remember, plant Tops should be around 84-86F, and 400PPFD with 68%RH will rock your plants pretty well. 150PAR should keep them awake, and Hermie wont happen unless you goof up the nighttime. If you have to, use inter-vernal timing to keep cool. Treat it as if a cloud moved in and is shading the plant. So, even if you could do 3 strong watts hours, 15-20 mins cool down, then back up. As long as you keep some light on her, she should be fine. Ive actually went a day with low watts, as if it was cloudy all day, with higher watts for an hours every 4 hours, and the plant loved it..

Lovely answer! Im Im surprised, with all the energy efficiency, datasheet humping that goes on here that noone is trying this and documenting it. Also interesting if you want to disguise your power consumption signature with out an obvious 12/12 power consumption
