Miracle Fruit

Hey has anyone here tried or heard of "Miracle Fruit". When you eat the small berry, your taste buds that taste sour or bitter tastes are coated with something in the fruit and it masks these tastes. Most articles about it say it makes pieces of lemon taste like candy and you can drink lemon juice like lemonade. It is supposed to last from 30 minutes to a few hours.

I would really like to try this, and I have been thinking about growing some kind of herb:mrgreen: for a few months now. I was thinking of buying HID lighting for the Miracle Fruit and then if it doesn't work out i can use it for growing something else :blsmoke:.

Do you think I would still follow the guidelines of 18 hours a day with MH for vegetative growth and then 12 HPS for flowering?

If I do grow one i will buy an actual plant that is in a 7 gallon container, it will be around 3 to 4 feet tall and I will grow in my closet.

I see websites saying either lots of light to lite/moderate shade. I was wondering if anyone has grown tropical plants indoors under HID lighting because i need help picking a light. Most say it can't be grown outdoors in the US except in southern Florida and Hawii. I was wanting to get a MH/HPS Lumatek ballast and I don't know if I would be best to get a 250, 400 or 600 watt. I know they say go as big as you can but i dont want to hang my light 4 feet from the plant because its to bright. If i go with an air cooled hood what ballast would you go with?

Some info on the plant;

Blog entry about trying it: Jacob Grier: Coffee, Cocktails, Commentary, and Conjuring » Miracle fruit — I’m a believer!

Buy the plant and some info on it:

Any input is appreciated :peace:

should put this in bars to get people to drink harder liquor
I tried my first MF tablet about a month ago (green packaging) >:-( . I didn't like the acid taste that much, but the effect was off the charts! :-/

Guess what: I bought another pack a week ago, again from www.miraclefruitworld.com (well, from one of their retailers sour2sweet), sth called Miracle Frooties. They are so much better! No acid taste in my mouth, also lasts longer. Hell, at least now I know what i put in my mouth, has all the ingredients on the box, in English!, and says ISO 9001, HACCP certified. I got 600mg, so twice the size, for almost the same price. Recomend it! And if sbd is throwing a Party with the new ones, let me know :-D

From what I've read, seeds are hard to germinate, and have a low germination rate. And the plants arn't really that cheap.

I just bought my first 5" miracle fruit tree! Just planted it in some Roots Organic Soil, I'm really worried its going to burn the baby, but they say to use Canadian peat and perlite, and those are two of the main ingredients in the RO. I hope it does okay, I really want it to start producing these miracle berries!

"flavor tripping parties"
Haha yeah no kidding, I want to see to what degree it actually cuts off your sour receptors, I hope all the hype is true. They say its also good for cancer patients, to eliminate that chemically taste everything gets because of radiation treatment. My girlfriend is a former smack addict and uses suboxone(spelling?), I am very curious to see if this helps with the taste of it. She has to dissolve them under her tongue, and she looks like she wants to die every time. I hope this is the answer! I want to see if it turns sour patch kids into sweet patch kids too haha. Anyone know of any other practical uses?

What do you mean pumping that shit into you? Its a berry, you eat it. I *highly* doubt its dangerous, why would it be readily available and advertised as edible if it were dangerous. If it does end up hurting me in any way, I'm a fucking millionaire. Even if I die, then my family are millionaires...:cool:

do you know it works? it supposedly alters your sour taste receptor. it goes away after awhile, but what about prolonged usage? could it seriously damage teh receptors in the long run?

Well this thing probably isn't even going to produce berries until 2016 by the looks of it, so I don't think I'll need to worry about over doing it on the berries lol. Even when it does start bearing fruit, there probably won't be too much to go around, so I think I'll be alright. By the time it fruits maybe there will be more info. Does anyone out there ever eat miracle fruit on a regular basis?
