In the Buds for less book it says he uses a bag of miracle-gro with nutes in it and I guess no nutes later on. I've had people tell me that using miracle-gro would nute burn it or kill it.

So its ok to use miracle grow with time release ferts in it?

WOW....Alot of people been using the book lately. I did my first grow following it and learned alot. First off, I planted my seeds directly into the time release soil and they sprouted perfectly with really fast and healthy growth, no purple stems or anything.

But, the time release soil is not ideal. unless you are planing a grow cycle longer than 3 months (Now 6 months, becuz MG changed the formula) then Its no way to flush the plants until all the fertz are used.

You could try to water heavily to speed up this process but who knows how long that will take. At the end my harvest tasted really chemically and was a let down but still a success none the less. Now I use MG Organic. For nutes i use Alaska Fish Emulsion & Alaska Mor-Bloom becuz despite what the MG Organic bag says, the soil is pretty low in nutrients to supprt hungry MJ plants thru out the whole grow.

I still use the MG Time Relese for the mother plants. Its really convienant. Just plants em and let em go. Check out the grow in my sig to see what Im doing now with MG Organic And the same principles I learned in the Buds for Less book.

I've done all my grows with MG with time released, you don't even have to use nutes for at least 2 months in veg, then just add small doeses for flower. I love it, it's cheap and easy to get and works great, you don't have to use much nutes at all. It takes alittle time to get used to it though, 2-3 grows with it and you'll have it down

I used MG seed starting mix for my first grow. I'm of the opinion that people tend to blame their mistakes on the soil. The only problems I had were my own watering and feeding mistakes.

For my next grow I'm going to use Kellogg Patio Plus mixed with some Gardner's (another Kellogg brand) organic mulch and some MG perlite, all of which I bought at Lowe's. I'm going to mix it 1.5:1:.5, respectively. The PP is basically a low cost form of Fox Farm Ocean Forest ($5 for 1.5cu.ft. instead of $14-15 for FFOF) and the mulch is composted wood and steer manure ($2.50 for 1cu.ft.). I should end up with some nice light and fertile soil.

i know i'm pretty pissed off about MG changing your formula plus it does not hold water very well now
