I have seen a lot of mite controll products that are very expensive, most come in a 4oz to 8oz container and range in price from $4 to $35 dollars. a lot of the products have rosemary extract in them and deture mites from comming around at all, they dont like rosemary. this is a simple natural product that i make and use regularly to rid myself of these pests and i dont have them at all.
what you need.
a coffee grinder, very cheap.
6oz container of rosemary leaves, dried. $4 bucks at most stores
a reusable coffee filter, walmart. $3 to $4 bucks.
tiny bit of corn oil.
Ok, take little by little, about half the rosemary and grind it in the grinder and put it in a cooking pot. then fill the pot with water and add a little cooking oil. bring the water up to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for half hour. make sure to stir it a bit and dont let it thicken.
then take it off the heat and let it cool a while, when cool pour small amounts into the filter and filter onto another container. when finnished take the dry clump of rosemary and put it into a towl, twist the towl to squeeze all the left over water out into your mix. you can use the dry stuff for your soil or mulch or sprinkle on top of your soil in your pots. it is usefull so dont just throw it out.
now, the mix you just made should make about 3 quarts to a gallon of repellant. you can delute it if needed.
I use a small spray bottle and mist my plants twice a week and I NEVER have mites. it works awesome and the cost is so little for the yeild. I dont spray my plants on the last two weeks to harvest to eliminate the taste of rosemary.
One gal=128oz and at 12$ for a store bought 8oz bottle, which is what most are. thats almost $200 bucks, this mix cost me less than $15 bucks and it will last for months.
Hope this helps everyone keep them little fuckers away. BTW this will keep mites away, I dont know about treating an infestation as i have never had one.
