depends what kind of mites ur talking...if spider mites then you will notice tiny white spots on the topside of the leaf..those are caused from spidermites laying eggs on the bottom side of the leaf. i have yet to have success at getting rid of them other than letting them go...spraying as i can and my buddy even vacuumed one of my plants....i had to restart and completely sanitize my room.
